What is Active Peace?

Active Peace is a holistic approach to personal, interpersonal and collective healing.

Active Peace coaching and training strengthens your self-awareness and self-acceptance, deepens your connection to nature and builds your relationship and conflict resolution skills. The principles and practices of Active Peace are foundations that go to the root of insecurity, resentment, anxiety and fear.

Active Peace expands your sense of self beyond the limits of ego and increases your joy, empowerment and sense of purpose. 

This is coaching and training as a rite of passage—a process of becoming ever more conscious, open, mature and compassionate.

One-on-one or couples coaching, trainings or engaging in a facilitated restorative process are all avenues for becoming an Active Peacemaker.

As explored in depth in Active Peace: A Mindful Path to a Nonviolent World, these integrated cornerstones expand the sense of self beyond the limits of ego and increase happiness, empowerment, and sense of purpose. It’s a process of becoming ever more conscious, open, mature, and compassionate.

Transformational Activism

Since I started out as an activist I take great pleasure in bringing the foundations of peace and justice into the challenging territory of activism and social transformation.  Whatever your unique contribution is, I can support you in doing it with more clarity, courage, and compassion!

As someone who spent many years doing activism from a place of anger, I know the toll it can take and the limits of its effectiveness. I teach an approach that is consistently nonviolent and inspired by restorative justice. You will move beyond reactivity and into your heart and your fearless love.

Relationship Skills and Tools

Since life is relationship, you can never fully heal in isolation. Relationships are where you get most of your basic needs met, where you get tested, and where the most profound growth takes place.

With my training and experience in mediation, restorative justice, heart-centered communication, and spiritual practice, I can help you shift out of the judgments and patterns that undermine relationships. The skills and tools I offer will help you communicate more clearly, address any conflict at its root, and transform strong emotions such as anger and grief into clean-burning energy.

I offer specific processes that heal damaged relationships and the wounds of loss and divorce.

Mindfulness

Presence is where the path of peace and happiness begins and ends. Stepping out of habitual patterns and life on auto-pilot moves you into deep acceptance of yourself and life just as it is. Making peace with your mind is the foundation for stress reduction, healthy relationships, and the courage to face the future fearlessly.

I have taught mindfulness in divorce mediations, prisons, and a variety of other settings. I use it as a starting point in all my work.

Nature-based Practices

Mindful time in the natural world deepens your connection to life. Present to the beauty of the moment you naturally relax. As you heal the illusion of separation from nature, you heal the very root of the isolation, insecurity, and self-centeredness that plagues society. Problems are put into perspective and joy arises.

With a master’s degree in ecopsychology, I bring the support of the earth into everything I do.
